Established in 1934,
by the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of NY, to find employment for unemployed men and women. F·E·G·S
(Federation Employment and Guidance Service, Inc. also doing business as F·E·G·S Health and Human Services
System and F·E·G·S) has evolved to become the largest and most diversified private, not-for-profit health
related and human service organization in the United States. With operations in over 258 facilities, residences, and off-site
locations, F·E·G·S has served more than two million people since its inception. Services are delivered
in the areas of Employment & Training, Education & Youth, Career Development, Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities,
Residential, Rehabilitation, Family Services and Homecare. F·E·G·S operates programs throughout the metropolitan
New York area, and provides consultation and technical assistance to government, organizations, and businesses throughout
the United States and abroad.
Six not-for-profit affiliated corporations, provide a diverse range of home healthcare,
housing, and other services to the community, and four consulting corporations provide outsourcing and consulting services
in the areas of information technology, human resources, group modalities in behavioral health services and temporary staffing.
Additionally, F·E·G·S has numerous affiliations and partnerships with public and private sector organizations
and institutions.
F·E·G·S is a Beneficiary Agency of UJA-Federation of New York, and a member
of the United Way Agency of New York City/Long Island. F·E·G·S programs are licensed and approved for
service by numerous governmental organizations and are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities
(CARF), the International Association of Counseling Services, the National Board for Certified Counselors, and the Accrediting
Commission for Trade and Technical Schools of the Career College Association.
